Navigator Art on Display Around Town

Northside students have art on display around town this November.

Beginning next week, selected students from Mr. Mason, Ms. Williams and Ms. Moore's classes will have their Abstract Expressionist paintings shown at Lincoln Center.

Two classes are also participating in an art exhibition at University Mall. Murray's 2nd Grade will exhibit their Warm and Cool Number artworks and Ms. Kirkey-Dean's 1st Grade will display their Expression Masks. The exhibit at the mall will be up by the end of next week near the center stage.

If you are at Lincoln Center or University Mall stop by and see some Navigator art!

Fourth Grade Navigators Hold Writing Celebration

The fourth graders recently celebrated completing their personal narratives.  They each wrote a short story about a special event, person, or place in their lives.  The unit began with a careful study of some exemplary mentor texts.  After reading these texts, students discussed characteristics of personal narratives and what made these stories excellent.  Students then brainstormed topics in their own lives to write about and began drafting their personal narratives.  They spent a few weeks revising their stories to add dialogue, figurative language, transition words, and other features to improve the quality of their writing.  In the end, students produced unique, well-written stories about their lives.  We really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other better throughout this unit.  Thank you to all the families and staff members who joined us for our celebration!
